Global Adoptee Talk

Welcome to Global Adoptee Talk, a podcast about the experiences of international and transracial adoptees. Adoptees share their stories, and we explore issues related to loss, identity, and blood ties.

New Year, New You

Jan 2, 2018

I cannot believe that a new year has arrived! So much has happened around the world in the last year, and with every new year, adoptee voices around the world grow increasingly stronger. There are a number of websites, blogs, books, and podcasts featuring the voices of adoptees, and that is pretty amazing.

Looking back over 2017, what are some of the highlights that occurred in your personal world? Two of the biggest in mine are 1) relocating to southern California, and 2) publishing my first book. Talk about downsizing. Our garage is still full of stuff from our move last November. We're slowly whittling it down and may one day be able to actually park our cars in the garage. My new memoir has done fairly well, and I sincerely appreciate the readership that has grown over the last several months. Besides that, I started a new career and a new podcast! The new career is going pretty well. A couple of months ago, I had no idea what a podcast was. After catching the adoptee podcasts, Adoptees On, Adapted, and The Rambler, I was inspired to start my own. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. That being said, I hope to improve Global Adoptee Talk in 2018 and am thoroughly excited about the guests to appear on the show, including fellow Taiwanese adoptees early this year. If you've listened to the first 2 episodes of GAT, thanks so much. Seriously, as I've already mentioned, it's a work in progress. I sincerely appreciate your listenership and hope that you'll continue to listen in. If you're an international/transracial adoptee and would like to share your story on the show, feel free to contact me via our website. New episodes are posted monthly.

Tomorrow, it's back to reality. I've enjoyed the last week off from work and, like so many others, will be heading back to the office bright and early tomorrow morning. I wish you and yours a truly happy, healthy, and kinder 2018!
